Pups, Piddling and Politics- Part One

One of the wonderful things about life is that we get to keep learning. A lesson I am very grateful for learning is helping me with the types of animal communication sessions that I have had this past year--it is at least a piece of what is going on. Politics have been playing a big role in many of my sessions recently.  The way we allow politics to affect us also affects our animal companions. You may recall from my previous articles that I have talked about Mirroring. The animals in our lives in some way reflect certain aspects of our lives, whether it is our health (which is our personal energy), a relationship, work dynamics, daily repetitive thoughts, and so much more.

About 12 years ago, I suddenly started receiving many calls about animal companions (dogs especially) urinating in what we would call inappropriate places. Sometimes it would occur even after they had been outside. It didn’t matter their age or other factors we would normally think play a role in this behavior. The connection didn’t occur to me at first, but it did make me wonder...so I took time aside to meditate on it and the answer came quickly and clearly. It was politics and a presidential election year.

Many people are very passionate about politics and they (politics) are around us much of the time. When there is an exceptionally heated topic, many of us react strongly. One recent example of what this sort of heated reaction can do showed up in several forms in a reading I was doing at a holistic fair. A wonderful couple, probably in their 60s, sat down with me and wanted to talk about their two dogs and the sudden “mystery behaviors” they were exhibiting. This couple and their dogs spend the warmer months of Maine in an RV camper enjoying vacation land. According to them, one of the dogs appeared to be very nervous to go to the bathroom outside and upon coming back inside would relieve herself immediately in the kitchen, while the other dog started to spend more time under the table and itched more than usual. They both had several veterinarian visits to rule out major health challenges and were given the all-clear. I did see that they would benefit from having a healthier diet change. Then the images started rolling into my mind’s eye: a big flat screen TV and Donald Trump, sensations of a tight stomach, and severe heartburn (that piece comes from the medical intuitive part of my work as readings are infused with whatever modalities are called for at the time). I asked them if one of them was having heartburn and the husband pointed to his wife. I asked if either one of them was watching a lot of television and more importantly news and politics. Once again he pointed to his wife who was looking at me sheepishly. I went on to tell them that her feeling of heartburn and the dogs’ behavior all stemmed from the same thing--her passionate, and more importantly, angry feelings were taking over her/their wellbeing. When she repeated to others what she was angry about, she kept reliving it and her fears. Energetically speaking, that is pretty potent stuff! Many studies have shown that we can get the same results, if not better, with what we are focusing on or visualizing. To the brain there is no difference...ask any Olympic athlete!

The way animals in our lives mirror us is through our molecules and cellular memory duplication. When we have a connection they act as our barometer. It is a healing gift they bring to us, but most of the time we don’t put it all together. It is one of the reasons I am so passionate about what I do. We are shown in many ways how our energy looks. I have heard several people, mostly Mediums, say that this is why these animals come into our lives and that they will take dis-ease away from us. They will if they need to but they are giving us many opportunities before that to take responsibility of our energy in a healthy way. I will go into more about this and what to look for in Part Two of this article.

With any reading it’s not just about what’s going on. I also work on tapping into what the solution is. One of the things I see in my mind’s eye are words around the body. They are positive and mostly in the present tense. I advise the humans to say them as if they are saying an affirmation to themselves and then the animal companions mirror the affects of the molecular changes happening in their person’s body (please look up the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto). The words are a type of personal prescription. Words that come up regularly are “Secure”, (which is very different from “safe”. Security comes from within, while safety tends to mean feeling safe from something),“Ease”, “Balance” and “Harmony”. I recommend that people say the words in the “I am” form and to really feel in the body what those words mean. For example, the feeling of Ease is a relaxed body--shoulders down, steady, calm breathing in our body language--really living the feeling of Ease as one is saying it.

If you are curious and want to try it, do it for a week. Don’t tell anyone and take note of what the response is from animal companions, family, friends and co-workers. My clients that have followed through with this practice have seen amazing results. It is probably one of the most cost-effective things I can offer someone. It is so important for us to remember how much power we hold within our thoughts and intentions...no matter who is in political power.

Thank you as always to the divine wisdom of the Animal Kingdom. Namaste
